ZVISHAVANE - Shabani Primary School defied odds when it topped the Zvishavane district education awards for the year 2015 after scooping prizes in academic, sports, arts and culture categories at a colourful ceremony held at Shabani Mine Club recently.
Shabani primary, which is undoubtedly one of the best schools in the Midlands province, scooped the Best School prize beating 61 other primary schools in the district.
The school has 13 pupils who passed with four units at last year's Grade 7 Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) examinations. Shabani recorded a 100 percent pass rate followed by Kandodo which also scored 100 percent but with seven pupils who passed with four units.
The District School Inspector Luke Matutu congratulated Shabani for coming tops for the third time in a row.
Shabani head Jane Mdumo could not hide her joy and attributed the results to hardworking. Mdumo said she has a team of hardworking teachers who are dedicated to their work. They have also introduced a culture of reading at the school.news
