Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) president, Bishop Johannes Ndanga last week urged the United Apostolic Faith Church of God (UAFCG) members to desist from politically-motivated demonstrations as that does not form part of the church's mandate.
He was speaking during the church's 55th anniversary celebrations held in Chihota.
The UAFCG's anniversary celebrations, which were the first to be held in the church's over five decades of existence, ran under the theme, One Church, One Vision.
In his speech during the event Bishop Ndanga said Christians should not be involved in revolts against the government.
"As Christians you should remain resolute and you should not be involved in those revolts against the government," Bishop Ndanga said.
He urged church members to remain united to avoid the emergence of off-shoot denominations that result from disharmony.
"We now have many churches but I urge you to have one spirit of unity and remain united as the name of the church alludes," the bishop added.
Addressing the same gathering, Bishop Hove of the UAFCG also emphasised the importance of unity as one of the cornerstone of the church's vision.
"Let us embrace our theme which says One Church, One Vision. As Christians, we should, therefore, remain focused and united," said Bishop Hove.news
