CHIREDZI - Ward 3 Councilor Tarusenga Makamba last week held a consultation meeting with residents of his ward at the Zimbabwe grounds where he promised to share half of his council earnings with widows.
Makamba said widows were a vulnerable social group which should be shown compassion, vowing to share 'the little' he gets from council with them.
"It is our duty to take care of widows and I am willing to share with them half of my earnings. In the Bible, widows were cared for and that should be the case even today. If we do not care for them, nobody will and life will be difficult.
"It is better if we help them to start their own small businesses as we do not even know what the future holds for us," said Makamba.
He assured residents he was working hard to improve service in the ward and beyond, saying some of the service delivery pledges he made last year had been fulfilled.
The councillor said he was very much aware of the problems of poor drainage systems in the ward and promised to work with the town engineer to get the issues attended to.politics
