… two teams to play remaining 24 minutes

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Eastern Region recently confirmed with TellZim News that they have since reached a decision on the recently abandoned match between Mucheke Pirates and Mutare City Rovers at Mucheke Stadium.
Speaking to TellZim News, Zifa Eastern Region secretary general Wisdom Simba said a committee had finally reached a decision that the match be resumed from the 66th minute at which it was abandoned.
"A Zifa committee has sat and decided that there will be a continuation of the match on a date to be announced. The teams will play the remaining 24 minutes only to cover up for the time that had been left before the final whistle.
"Mucheke Pirates could not be pardoned because they failed to produce required documents resulting in the match starting later than expected. Mutare City Rovers could not be pardoned either as they were found guilty of causing match abandonment," Simba said.
Mucheke Pirates were leading 2 - 1 before the match was abandoned after the visitors complained of poor lighting as the sun began to set.
Rovers had taken the lead in the first two minutes of the match before Mucheke Pirate's Gerald Bero and Caleb Masocha scored for the home side in the 11th and 21st minutes
