. . . tells Mujuru to go hang
MASVINGO – Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) leader Morgan Tsvangirai stunned Masvingo provincial and district executives when he acknowledged that his party was no different from the ruling party, Zanu PF which is riddled by factionalism, tribalism and intra-party violence.
Addressing party executives at Mucheke Hall on Saturday, Tsvangirai admitted that there was a thin line between MDC-T and Zanu PF saying both parties are now specializing in promoting factionalism, tribalism and intra-party violence, saying the vices are destroying the biggest opposition party in the country.
"Right now there is no difference between us and Zanu PF because of violence. Zanu PF is known for factionalism, tribalism and violence; ndozvaakupindawo muMDC handitoziviwo kuti zvakabva nepi. When we formed this party we used to work together but now zvasiyana," said Tsvangirai.
The MDC-T leader then took a swipe at the National People's Party (NPP) leader Joice Mujuru saying she must go hang if she dreams of leading the grand coalition.
"I told Mujuru that she cannot come from Zanu PF and want to lead the coalition isu tiripo, chero tiri marema. I told her that pama seats achatoita sembira and get the few that were left after the MDC Alliance was signed,"Tsvangirai said.
The former Prime Minister said time was running out and party members must concentrate on making sure that the party wins the 2018 elections, adding that he will kick out party members who promote violence.
"We as MDC should guard against violence, we don't solve disputes with violence; that's Zanu PF culture. As your president, I want to declare today that there will be no disciplinary hearing for a person who beat others, it's immediate dismissal from the party," warned Tsvangirai.
He also said Masvingo commanded the winning vote and claimed that this time around, it would be a 'walkover' since the province 'no longer had a strong leader' from Zanu PF following the death of Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Shuvai Mahofa.
Speaking at the same occasion, MDC-T vice president Elias Mudzuri said 2018 was the only chance for the people to make or break their destiny.
"2018 is coming and choose between prosperity and death, pundutso ndiTsvangirai and kufa kuvhotera zviripo," said Mudzuri.
Deputy organising secretary Amos Chibaya also added his voice saying people had been voting for MDC councillors and MPs for a long time but it yielded nothing and it was now high time that the opposition party takes over government.
"Having parliamentarians has not helped us, now we have to win executive power and we don't win by singing or sloganeering but through voting," said Chibaya.
Also present was party secretary general Douglas Mwonzora and provincial chairperson James Gumbi who assured Tsvangirai that Masvingo will rally behind him and will give him executives power to decide on critical issues.topnews
