Chicken Slice has been involved with many local authorities over the past few years of its existence but never before has it dealt with a more efficiently-run council than City of Masvingo, company chairperson Tawanda Mutyebere has said.
The business mogul was speaking at the official opening of Chicken Slice's newest branch in Masvingo, being its first shop in the province and its 12th branch countrywide.
Mutyebere, who was accompanied by his family and friends as well as by company management and staff to mark the grand entry of his popular fast food chain into his hometown, praised council for providing all the necessary support to expedite work on the shop.
"We took our time working on this shop but we knew we were going to open. I have a special word for the people of Masvingo because you received us here with open arms; from the mayor, town clerk to all council departments. Of all the city councils we have worked with, Masvingo is the best.
"There were no challenges at all from the time we were doing the construction work up to this very day. Things moved efficiently and we got all the cooperation we expected from different council departments. I must say that you have the best mayor in the country. We are business people, we don't do politics but we do give credit where it is due," said Mutyebere, referring to City of Masvingo mayor Hubert Fidze who was also in attendance.
He said there was need for other councils in the country to learn from how things were being done in Masvingo so as to attract investment and create jobs.
Mutyebere pleaded with authorities at all levels of government to remove unnecessary red tape that impedes growth of the national economy.
"We are appealing to the government for ease of doing business in our country because right now there are a lot of hindrances to overcome when you try to do something. We need to promote our own business people in Zimbabwe and we also need to quicken up the licensing services. In most cases, you spend several months waiting to get just a licence for you to be able to begin operating," said Mutyebere.
In his speech, Fidze, who later did the ribbon cutting, welcomed the Chicken Slice brand and thanked its management for having faith in the local market.
"We are pleased with this form of investment and the recognition that Chicken Slice has given our city by opening this branch. We will continue to work hard to improve service delivery so that conditions can become even friendlier to business," said Fidze.
The new shop, located opposite N. Richards Cash & Carry at the corner of Josiah Tongogara Ave and Robert Mugabe Rd, was described as the best of all Chicken Slice shops, boasting glittering exterior and interior designs that are complemented by top quality furnishings. business
