CHIREDZI - Triangle United Football Club, popularly known as ‘Sugar Sugar Boys’ will have to begin the 2019 season without Lameck Nhamo and Phineas Bamusi who were transferred to FC Platinum and Caps United respectively.
Nhamo, a striker, joined FC Platinum while midfileder Bamusi, who tormented Harare City during Chibuku Super Cup finals at Gibbo Stadium, has returned to his former club, Caps United.
Triangle FC head coach Taurai Mangwiro acknowledged the developments that he said will have an impact on his team.
"These are really trying times. Starting a season without some of our most effective players will be challenging. We however have Raphael Kaondera whom we are confident will fill the gap left by Lameck.
"We are just hoping for the best. So far we have five players on our wish list and we are working fairly good to make sure that we fully prepare ourselves for the next task," said Mangwiro.
Nhamo scored 15 goals last season and assisted Bamusi score the winning goal during the Chibuku Super Cup tournament.
Triangle United devoted fan, Wonder Dendere said the departure of Nhamo and Bamusi was a big loss and urged Mangwiro to stand firm for victory.
"Players come and go and if Tau is to maintain his style of play, he just need suitable replacement and it would be all systems go," said Dendere.
Triangle United finished the 2018 season at 4th position on the PSL log with 56 points behind Ngezi Platinum FC, Chicken Inn FC and winners FC Platinum who had 78 points.
