An upcoming drone engineer with a vision for great scientific feats has found a
home where he is now taking drones into the space.
Donald Mazwati Mlambo
(27) has been incorporated as a drone designer with an engineering company Blitztech Electronics.
Donald has joined a team of youthful engineers namely
Einstein Makuyana, Brian Bvukumbwe, Thabiso Derembwe, Wallace Chimboza, Victor
Watambwa and Max Sibanda at the Harare-based engineering company.
In an interview with TellZim News on Monday, Donald
said he was excited by the clear prospects of success that he now has.
"I have been longing for an opportunity which
would allow me to wake up in a workshop doing my electric engineering alongside
other experts. My drones are now flying in the space. We are making drones for
agricultural use," Mlambo said.
"We are still working on other designs for use in
the film industry and police work. I am humbled by how our team is coming up
with innovative ideas of simplifying drone technology. I urge young minds with
a passion for electric engineering to be more focused. The future of engineering
is in their hands," he said.
Mlambo studied physics,
chemistry and biology at Gaza High School in Chipinge and Winhood College in
Ruwa.
He developed a passion electrical engineering as he
helped his father repair electric gadgets in a family shop in Chipinge town.
Mlambo started by
making an amplifier in 2015 that took him two years to complete due to spare
parts challenges. He
later received a
donation from ZimDigital which provided him with circuit boards,
etching pens and chemicals.
