» » Ministry of Transport employee steals from Gutu road project

MPANDAWANA - An employee of the Transport ministry recently appeared before Gutu magistrate Victor Mahamadi facing allegations of theft and was fined $250.
Johnson Charambira (52) of Muza village under Chief Mugabe in Masvingo Rural District was charged with theft as defined in Section 113 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 09:23.
State facts as presented by Kudakwashe Muza were that on a date not known to the prosecutor but in the month of April this year, Charambira unlawfully took 3x50kg of barbed wire and 2x3 window panes.
The crime was committed at Ziro Gutu - Buhera road project which is being done by the Ministry of Transport.
On July 18, police detectives picked up information to the effect that Charambira had ferried the said items to his homestead in Masvingo.
The police took him there and conducted a search which led to the recovery of the stolen property.
